Symptoms of Other Disorders related to Anxiety

Whilst some people experience a sense of anxiety in general in relation to their lives, other people’s anxiety can show itself in different ways.

Symptoms of Panic

Sometimes when people get very anxious they can experience what is described as a panic attack.  This is sudden and very intense anxiety and fear.  The common symptoms of anxiety occur – faster heart rate and faster breathing, faintness, dizziness and sweating – but in an intensified way.  You may also feel out of control and that you ‘can’t cope’ in a situation.  These can feel very unpleasant and frightening as you may not know what is happening or why.

Symptoms of Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) are an overall sense of general anxiety which is not related to anything specific or any specific trigger.  This means anxiety can occur in response to lots of different situations or events.  The feelings experienced are sometimes referred to as ‘free-floating anxiety’ because people feel generally anxious and worried for no obvious reason, feeling an overall sense of dread and/or threat as though they are waiting for something bad to happen.
